Luis Miñarro

Luis Miñarro is considered one of the foremost figures in the field of European independent filmmaking. In 2010, his coproduction of A. Weerasethakul's "Uncle Boonmee recuerda sus vidas pasadas" won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, and his production of Agustí Vila's "La Mosquitera" won the Crystal Globe for the best film at the Karlovy Vary film festival. In 2011 he won prizes at both the Rotterdam festival with Sergio Caballero's "Finisterrae" and at Ficunam Mexico with J. M. de Orbe's "Aita".

Through his company Eddie Saeta, he has participated in 30 unpredictable feature films which have been screened at major international festivals, film libraries and museums, including the MoMA in New York and the Tate Modern in London. He has collaborated with, among others, Jose Luis Guerín, Marc Recha, Albert Serra, Lisandro Alonso and Manoel de Oliveira.

As a filmmaker, his works include "Familystrip" and "Blow Horn".

He has sat on the jury at the Locarno, San Sebastián, Buenos Aires, Granada and Zadar festivals, among others. Retrospectives of his work have been shown in Paris, Cali, Montevideo, Beijing, Tangiers and Genoa and he has won a number of different awards, including the City of Barcelona Prize for his commitment to the arts.
