ARTELEKU

Event

Mapa is an audiovisual research group that meets at the Arteleku conference room during the year to share, discuss and continue to continue the contemporary audiovisual medium: film, pixel, nose, centre stage, shadow, spectrum, off-camera, endless loop?

We meet up, switch on the project, watch fragments of rare film and enjoy some refreshments in the dark. Once a week at 19h, in Arteleku. Then we go home at 9.00 p.m.

Izibene Oñederra, Tamara García and Víctor Iriarte make up Mapa.

El amor era esto, esto, esto... [Love was this, this, this…]Itsaso Arana is part of the La Tristura collective. In 2012, she showcased her first film at the Impresentable performance and visual arts festival at La Casa Encendida in Madrid: faces and memories about what loving someone means. What do we mean when we talk about lovelessness?
The work session will be run by Itasao Arana, who will visit us along with the rest of La Tristura collective.

Session 4, 6 March
Ensayo final para utopia [Dress Rehearsal for Utopia]: Andrés Duque claims that his films are a gut feeling rather than thought out.. In this case, his latest feature film, from 2012, is a sensory experience that mixture family films and dance, life and death, inkling and heart. From his guts, to the future. This is what is going to happen when films no longer exist, when the audiovisual medium is yet another part of ourselves.

Session 3, 27 February
Retrato- Repaso [Portrait – Review]. ABC Duque: Andrés Duque is visiting Donosti as part of the LABO experimental film screenings and to run a digital film workshop organised by Tabakalera. And we are taking this opportunity to invite him to Arteleku so that we can learn more about his biography-filmography. Right from his early step in Never Ever Land , visiting Iván Zulueta, to his latest adventures in the jungle of his digital archive.
Session curated and presented by Andrés Duque.

Session 2, 13 February
Moteros versus cumbieros. [Bikers versus Cumbieros] José Campusano is an Argentinean film director that makes unrefined films.. Films about motorbikes and hold-ups and neighbourhoods and impossible dialogues and beer and fights and broken teeth and vengeance and love and sex and friendship and loyalty and speed and death and live and without complexes, or curbs or fear. His films are always on the point of not being films and we were therefore surprised to discover and enjoy his skulls and bones. We will review his film Vikingo [Viking] in the context of the open debate on the new and underground Argentinean films. Pure heavy.

Session 1, 6 February
La familia mal, gracias [The Family Not Doing Well, Thanks]: family films always hide ghosts. Gastón Solnicki, the Argentinean director, began to film with his home camera when he was 7 years old. Time went by and he continued shooting. He then discovered the editing room and one day he turned all that material into a mirror-film: Papirosen (2011). Families sing, dance, love, hate, drink and see each other. We see each other in families, as a reflection, as a life-film.
