ARTELEKU

Given by Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca
With the collaboration of Oriol Ibañez Fauker and Javier Chavarri

The workshop centres on interactive arts, their forms of language and their methodologies of production. Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca's has extensive experience in this field, with robots, interactive installations and mechatronic performances. He is therefore in a position to provide theoretical examples of this type of practice, which he calls Systematurgy — a neologism literally meaning the dramaturgy of computing systems.

Systematurgy extends the technical and artistic aspects of interactive narratives. This type of narrative can prove difficult to position accurately on the market. It includes aspects such as complex management, team work, mainstreaming of disciplines, the function of the interface and the role of the user/interactor.

The aim of this workshop is to create an interdisciplinary task force to produce a new interactive performance, working from June to September. Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca will provide the group with the necessary theoretical and practical tools to put this experience into practise. In doing so he will be assisted by two of his regular collaborators, Oriol Ibañez, a specialist in hardware and the digital scene, and Javier Chavarri, a programmer working with the latest version of POL, the software used by Marcel·lí since 2002 to manage his interactive pieces.

The workshop is divided into two stages. The first is essentially theoretical. The artist will draw on his own experience to analyse aspects related to systematurgy, such as interfaces, types of interactivity, the interactive story, etc. The second part is practical, with participants working on the production of a small example of interactive performance.
