(Salé, 1979) Abelardo Gil-Fournier is an artist and programmer. His work revolves around the relationship between the abstraction of algorithms and systems and the specific nature of cultural and social processes. His projects are approached as platforms – installations, data visualisations, tools, videogames and workshops – that emulate open laboratories where the production process and its ensuing effects are distorted.
Part of his work is produced for commissions by institutions and associations such as Culturambiente, Ultra-lab, Canal+, Fronterad or the Intermediae cultural centre in Madrid. He has taken part in collective exhibitions in Spain and has been involved in development collective creation workshops in Medialab Prado, Arteleku, Fundación Telefónica and Spanish Cultural Centres in different countries, including Mexico, Mali, Nicaragua or El Salvador.
