Calling all those who love making things! Matter-information
The spread of digital manufacturing to new contexts can be seen as just another step forward in the unstoppable hybridisation of human and digital processes, which began with Babbage’s invention of the first analytical engine. Thanks to these developments, the relationship between objects and digital systems is now accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, while in the meantime, research laboratories strive to synthesise smart materials, i.e. materials that can be digitally programmed and transformed.
This talk will chart these developments and focus on some of the consequences of the matter-information relationships that already exist in both our everyday lives and the way in which we view the world around us.
