Exhibition
11/10 - 10/11/2013

The second edition of MODATIK, Fashion and Visual Arts Encounters, will include an exhibition at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum, from 11 to 27 October 2013.

The show will feature creations by emerging and established talents on the Basque, national and international scenes. A selection of photographs, video creations and fashion designs will aim to showcase the dialogue that fashion establishes with the visual arts through photography and audiovisual media. This dialogue, which can be traced back to the origins of both photography and film, has evolved intermittently over the years and gained particular momentum in the last decade. The pieces on display will explore the diverse ways in which the languages interact and overlap, with a particular focus on the most innovative and experimental media.

Designed as a combined video and fashion installation, the exhibition will comprise the following:

Photographs and fashion designs by emerging talents who participated in the ART-PHOTO-FASHION '013 workshop that took place at Arteleku last July, with photographer Paco Peregrín as tutor for the visual arts/fashion and stylist Gabriel Azkoitia as fashion consultant. Five fashion designers and five visual artists worked together to create projects that used photography to showcase the links between the visual arts and fashion.

Creative couples: Mireya Martín (Navarra. Photography)-Victoria Monasterio (Galicia. Fashion); Miriam Prado (Vizcaya. Photography)-Maitane Quinteiro (Vizcaya. Fashion); Gerardo Vizmanos (Vizcaya. Photography)-Amabel García (Madrid. Fashion); Lidia Martín (Málaga. Photography)-Ariane Retegi (Gipuzkoa. Fashion). Mónica Ruiz (Gipuzkoa. Photography)-Esther Isabel Gala (Segovia. Fashion).
