What we call reality is a mental construction and photography is a powerful tool for exploring that subjective reality and communicating it to others.
In this workshop, we will see how our point of view can construct the world. We will journey through the ideas that inhabit our own work and that of other authors and we will discuss how to transfer poetic and conceptual ideas to personal photography.
In an image, everything is on show, apparently. However, there are many things we do not see or do not know how to decode. There will always be a part that remains a mystery, but there are many things we can show and we will study how to use them in our favour.
All creative processes include a balance between personal expression and the desire or need to communicate something to others. Our images are the vehicle for our ideas and we have to equip that vehicle with everything we need to reach the other side. We will see how we can transmit complex ideas which, on occasions, not even we fully understand. That's why it is important to ask the right questions and doubt our preconceived ideas and then use that as a base to construct our own discourse.
Only we can take the photographs we have previously dreamed. The important thing is to dream our own dream and not somebody else's. And, for a photographer, it is also important to learn how to capture it in an image.
