ARTELEKU

Event

04/06 - 07/06/2013

This seminar proposes a dialogue between various disciplines and languages based on the concept of silence. Conceived as a series of poetic tapestries that focus on subjects such as the silence of snow, the night or desert in literature, painting or music. Silent and talking films. Noise and fear. The silence of secrecy and other symbolic silences.

During the seminar, fragments of films and photographs will be screened and there will be numerous musical auditions. There will also be a proposal of various audio experiences compromised with silence.

"If you are patient enough to follow me, you will discover that 'there is a sound so subtle that nothing lives between that sound and silence'", Helen Keller.

Words on the silence of snow as an invitation to the seminar:

"We have all witnessed how snow absorbs sound. Silence and snow always go hand in hand; we could say that the word 'snow' is almost a creative spell of silence; however, sharing the experience of silence is a very different thing. And if snow acts as a mirror for the Observer and the mirror can reflect black and white, the silence of snow also acts as an acoustic mirror of our interior state. It can be our silence reflected in the silence, it can be the silence of the snow that swallows all our vowels, all our consonants, every sound, or it can extract unknown music from it. The silence of snow is a secluded silence that seems to prepare us for an encounter."
